Site Summary:
Constructed in 1865, Fort Verde was originally called Camp Lincon. As the primary base for General George Crook, the fort played a central role in the Indian wars in the Arizona Territorial Period. The fort was decomissioned in 1890.

Fort Verde State Park has preserved the Commanding Officer's Quarters, Bachelors' Quarters and Doctor's Quarters. Today these buildings serve as museum spaces, interpreting military life of the 1880s.

Getting There:
I-17 to Hwy 260 (east). Turn left on Main Street to 125 E. Holloman St. and turn left. The park is on your right.
